Silence in Solitude - Caribou - Hand Embellished Limited Edition

$168.00

Limited Edition prints are hand embellished by the artist to enhance the texture and depth of these remarkable pieces. Embroidery is added to selected locations where it will best highlight the details within the piece. These prints are limited to only 50 total. As these are made-to-order, please allow 1-2 weeks to ship.

Caribou (Rangifer tarandus) are found throughout Northern Europe, Siberia, and North America. There are many subspecies of Caribou, some large migrating herds and other more stagnant, non-migratory populations. The largest migrating herd is the Taimyr herd found in the Siberian tundra with between 400,000 and 1,000,000 individuals. Sadly, several subspecies are rare and some are already extinct. Caribou have seen a population decline of over 40% in the last 25years. This beautiful animal has a rich history alongside many circumpolar peoples, and is an absolute treasure that must be preserved for all time.
